Dangerous false nails

Prized by women to conceal a fad or to bring a touch of femininity additional, artificial nails can be dangerous if you make improper use. What are the risks Dangerous false nailsassociated with these devices?

Types of false nails

Three types are mainly used.

- The plastic caps are sold in pharmacies and supermarkets are fixed using a very strong glue.

- False sculptured nails are made of acrylic resin that is molded onto the natural nail.

- The UV gel nails, which are experiencing growing popularity in recent years.

Warning by filing the nail!

To apply false nails, you should file or do filing, slightly above the natural nail. This step thins the surface, but makes it more fragile. Thus its strength is weakened, which favors the penetration of toxic chemicals used to make nails or glue resin plastic capsules. More nails are filed initially, the greater the danger increases. Using sanders, favored by some beauty salons, would be avoided, according to dermatologists.

The detachment of the nail

The skin specialists agree to warn users against the aggressive chemicals used. During prolonged use, false nails promote peeling natural nails, especially if the user is used as a lever (to open a box, for example). Over the nail, the longer the risks are heightened.

Poisoning

Who says false nails, said use of volatile toxic. However, the scientific literature reports of poisoning from glue sniffing some clients and beauticians.

The effects resemble those of intoxication with alcohol, which in severe cases can lead to psychological disorders, blood, liver, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

Frequent inhalation may also increase the risk of developing asthma or lung cancer.

False nails and eczema

Research has shown that manicure acrylic base, including false nails, sometimes cause contact dermatitis. It is primarily an allergy can develop at your fingertips, but also in other parts of the body that are found in contact with the infected area.

Generally, eczema appears between 48 and 96 hours after application of artificial nails. The nail polishes are sometimes responsible for this phenomenon. The user can also develop contact dermatitis characterized by red rashes, blisters, itching, or skin burns.

Risk of fungal infection

For some, natural nails sometimes become yellow, brown or green due to infection. This is due to a fungus that feeds on keratin, the hard substance of the nail. Once weakened by the resin or adhesive, the nail is less resistant.

Onychomycosis is highly contagious and easily attack other parts of the body, skin and hair, for example, and even lead to desensitization of Extremities. The fungus can also infect your loved ones.

Processing complex, can take four to 18 months, depending on the severity and / or nail reached.

Bacterial infection

Another type of infection, Pseudomonas, may also develop under the false nail. It is characterized by a greenish color. Stagnant water is generally responsible. However, this type of infection can also be observed in natural nails, often long.

False nails and cancer

The medical literature reports at least two cases of skin cancer directly related to the false nails, Great Britain.

It seems that the use of UV to cure the gel nails is responsible for the appearance of this disease. One of the victims, healthy, developed cancer after eight sessions in a year while the other, seven years his senior, experienced complications after 360 sessions.

If oncologists are reluctant to make a link between these two cases and false nails, they nevertheless recommend regular review of hands to detect any suspicious lesions.

Death

Health services are also reports of deaths indirectly related to the false nails. In Canada, nurses have developed nosocomial infections worsened, causing the death of people. However, it is a rare phenomenon.

False nails and aesthetics

As we have seen above, the false nails often leads to complications. Once removed, these devices often leave natural nails in a pitiful state. Sometimes they disappear completely. And it takes months to redo the nail. The user would therefore like to ask for new concealed damage, thus increasing health risks.

If you still want to put fake nails, opt for beauty salons renowned and keep them as short as possible, a week at most. Specialists who work there will be able to advise you on the type of nail to use and the best ways to prevent complications.

Nail Anatomy

Healthy nails are smooth, shiny, and translucent pink colored. They also have a normal growth pattern. Unhealthy nails can have disorders and result in Nail Anatomyabnormal growth.
The technical term for nail is “onyx”. Nails are considered part of the skin; they are made up of keratin, like the skin and hair. But nails are a harder form of keratin than skin and hair. They help to protect and grasp.
The average rate of growth for adult nails is 1/8” per month. Toenails grow even slower. Nails can replace themselves within 3-4 months. They do grow quicker in the summer than the winter. The nail on the middle finger grows the fastest, and the nail on the thumb the slowest.

Parts of the Fingernail:

  1. Nail Plate: Main part of the nail that is attached to the skin at the top layer of the finger. Although it looks like one piece, it is actually formed in layers.
  2. Nail Root: This is where the nail growth begins. It is embedded under the skin at the base of the nail. Continue reading »

Fingernails and toenails are the common bed of fungal infections. Though it is common, it is not really as easy to to cure. Everywhere we go, fungi are present, 133799_f120and they can give different effects on our body. When infected, the nails will look thick and dull. Eventually, it will become crumbly and will result to the loss of your nails.

Not only does it not look very pleasing, it has a bad odor due to the fungus or death of the nail. Plus, it is very unhealthy and unhygienic. Because of the strong resistance of our barriers against fungus entering the nails, once they get inside, they are as difficult to eliminate. There are treatments which can be either Topical, surgical, or by medications, to fight the fungal infection. However, they may be too costly except Zetaclear which comes very cheap and is very effective in eliminating nail fungus infections- and they have to be continuous for a long time, or else nothing will happen even with the efforts.

Even if it may seem to clear up from time to time, they may return when the medication is not progressed. If you are unsure of the signs of having a nail fungus, you may want to see if the nails are becoming yellowish, and sometimes brownish. They also become thick and brittle which results to an easy breakage of the nails. Also check if the tips of the nails seem to be crumbling. To prevent nail fungus, you Continue reading »

long nails

I have long nails,long nails

They are a bit untidy now some, need a quick file, these grow fast, so I guess ithat I am lucky, however i work in the areas of art, and enjoy ceramic work and gardening, abhor wearing rubber, gloves when doing any of these things, in the case of art and ceramics, it just isn’t feasible, and in the instance of gardening, its so much harder to get a grip on the weeds.

Also half the time I can’t find them. (The gloves that is)

I decided to clean them up last night, Maincured them the French way, using white on the tips after shaping, and then applied soft pink over the whole nail.

They looked brilliant, by the end of the day, probably not so great. The other option is acrylic or gel nails.

Although nail sculpture is an option using acrylic, they place a shape under the nail and build layers of acrylic up to nail level and then a coat over, This would be more likely to snap off, placing greater tension at the tip of the nail.

The general method is to prime the healthy nail scraping it back, making it amiable to the acrylic coating, a large shape is applied first, called the tip , these are around 1″ long, and allow for the amount of length a client would like. Most people have them reasonably short. Next a coat of acrylic is applied by using a liquid and a powder technique which creates, the acyrilic false nail , A type of resin, this thick layer goes over the whole nail tip and all. Common Causes and Cures

Yellowing of nails on the fingers or toes often have different causes.

Fingernails stay healthiest when they are not covered with polishes, artificial nails, and glues for too long. Exposure to air and lots of water are what keep nails healthiest, and frequent application of nail conditioner or simple hand cream help as well.

This doesn’t mean not being able to wear nail polish all the time. It does mean changing it frequently, and also giving nails the occasional day or two to “rest” once in a while. Washing nail polish remover off well and immediately is an important first step after removing old polish, as well. Acetone remover is more drying, so even if you don’t use artificial nails or tips, it’s wise to stay away from remover with acetone in it.

When nail polish (or artificial nails) has been left on for more than two or three days, when it is removed the nails will appear dramatically drier and less naturally “pink”. The healthier color starts to return after that first good washing-off of the remover, but it can take a little while if the nails that have been covered with old polish for too long.

Although it isn’t necessary to NEVER immediately polish nails after removing old polish, giving nails that “rest” between polishings is the best practice. That can be accomplished easily and effortlessly by simply doing something like removing polish in early evening but not putting on a new coat until bedtime; or removing polish before bedtime and applying new polish the next day. When nails begins to appear just slightly less pink and healthy than they ordinarily do, it’s a good idea to leave polish off for two or three days; and just go with buffed and conditioned nails for a little while. The feet are very often a neglected part of our bodies, but think about the work that they do, they carry our weight all day. We need to take good care of them, they need to be kept in good condition.

They are covered up all winter and when it comes to summer, we realize the terrible condition that they are in.

Very few people have ever actually had a pedicure or even given themselves one, but below is a step by step guide to getting beautiful looking healthy feet at home.

You will need:

A large bowl

A foot file

A nail file

Moisturiser

Cuticle cream or olive oil

Q tips or cotton buds

Nail polish remover

Cotton wool or an old towel

Nail scissors

Exfoliator

Nail brush

Base coat

Nail polish

Toe separators

Step 1:

Moisten a cotton wool ball or an old towel with acetone free nail polish remover, and stroke it over the toe nails to remove any traces of old nail polish.

Step 2:

Cut your nails with the nail scissors, cut straight across and do not cut downwards, this can lead to ingrowing toenails.

File them straight across with the nails file, you can use a metal file on your toe nails as they are much thicker and stronger than your finger nails. Also, since they are so thick, most standard emery boards would not be able to cope with the task.

Step 3:

Soak your feet in a large bowl of warm water, you can add oils to it such as peppermint or olive oil to help revive and soften the feet. Exfoliate your feet using small gentle circular movements, scrub the toes and nails with the nail brush, rinse.

Step 4: Remove your feet from the water and apply a liberal amount of moisturiser wrap them in the towel and leave for about 10 minutes.

Step 5: File away any rough skin from the feet using the foot file, pay particular attention to the heels.

Apply another coat of moisturiser.

Step 6: Apply warm olive oil or cuticle cream to the cuticles and massage in, gently push the cuticles back with a cotton bud/q tip.

Step 7: Put your toe separators/dividers in; apply your base coat (if using polish)

Allow it to dry and add a coat of colour.
