In a transparent basis melenky silver glitter and silver hexagon more, a lot of them. As a single nail to wear it is not interesting, but as a complement. Easy to apply and easy on any substrate, hexagonal certainly not very evenly distributed, so that I need not. It dries very quickly – enough for about 5 minutes, then the top and secure it with a manicure ready. Removed from the foil. Extends the life of any varnish (manicure) for a couple of days. Nyudovym delicate shades adds some flavor to a barely visible, hint at the presence of the decorations on the nails, the same dark lacquers gives depth and interesting, it would be desirable to examine these nails. Well, and now from words to action, look …

Natural design with acrylics

The approach to modeling of acrylic nails is substantially different from the others techniques that for curing the acrylic nail, no UV light is needed. The curing process in acrylic nails done without any side effects and is therefore completely painless.

Monomer and polymer

During the curing of the acrylic nail a chemical reaction caused by the combination of the acrylic powder with the liquid. The chemical composition of the liquid monomer is composed of small molecules, which are not interconnected. The powdery polymer is made up of molecules, however, which are connected with each other in long chains. Taken together, these components, the mass hardens by a chemical reaction.

For modeling of the acrylic nails various materials and tools are needed: A cup for the powder, acrylic liquid, a brush, a file, enough towels.

nail stencil technique

An attractive alternative to nail extensions with bonded tips is the stencil technique. Used it is especially so if, for various reasons no hints are welcome if the nail needs to be fixed if there is no matching for the natural nail tips (oversize, undersize, very flat nails), allergies to the Tip Glue, with deformed nails and nail-biters.

Preparation

Unlike the gel technique with tips on where the natural nail should be no more than two millimeters beyond the tip of the finger, the natural nail sticking here at least two millimeters beyond it, otherwise is not a nail design with template technique possible. The natural nail is just as prepared as the nails with tips – that is, hands should be washed thoroughly, the cuticles gently pushed back, the nail buffer using a fine file or slightly matted, thus created the nail dust thoroughly removed. Having held a love affair with nail polish since I was 6 years old and first applied that neon pink nail varnish to my stubby little fingers thinking I looked so “grown-up” and “glamourous”…I was eager to pamper all 10 fingertips with this Chanel “Rouge Star ” Nail Enamel.

Chanel has always been the epitome of style and glamour, so, feeling very chic I applied the first coat……. Continue reading »

As far as I can tell, the only “diabolique” feature about this product is the wicked way that it chips after less than one day.

Diabolique is one of those sheer nail wash colors that provides just a hint of color and minimal shine with one coat. The 0.5 oz. rectangular bottle of polish itself is a temptress, containing translucent dark cherry/raspberry juice and a single, silver ball bearing swishing around along the bottle’s glass floor.

Holiday Nail Polish

I’m getting ready to dazzle for the holiday season. As
the stores are decorating and having specials it seems all the cosmetic companies are coming out with new goodies to tempt our wallets. Even the nail polish
companies are in on the act.
A new polish I came across is Zoya’s sparkly Jade. Now
the name makes you think green but the polish will have you seeing red. Imagine a sparkly, candy-apple red, bright shiny car and you have Jade. It is a perfect holiday color. It’s bright soft red with subtle glitter within.
Zoya polishes are not as well known as many other Continue reading »

OPI Nail Lacquer can be found in many beauty supply stores. Their newest collection is called Sheer Romance and the colors are appropriately named (Breakfast in Bed, Swept Off My Feet, Bubble Bath, and Pillow Talk…just to name a few).

There are a total of 12 shades and they are all pale, delicate, and delightful. Their website gives nice, big color blots that represent the real thing pretty well, and colors are well described under each color blot. Continue reading »

‘Tis the season of open toed shoes and sandals, and ’tis the time to start
painting those toe nails in all sorts of colours.

Collecting nail polishes is one of my vices in makeup, and I can’t resist
picking up a shade that catches my eye, especially funky, trendy colours.

I picked up a bottle of Sally Hansen’s New Lengths nail polish with teflon in a shade
called Sky Frost, a periwinkle like colour with shimmer.
The teflon supposedly makes your nails stronger, but I don’t hold much
credence to this claim, as I don’t believe there is such a product that you
can apply externally to strengthen nails. Plus, my nails are very strong to
begin with.

The first thing I noticed about this polish is that it’s a bit more watery
than most polishes I’ve tried. In fact, I thought it was a tad bit runny for my liking and I was concerned about the application. Continue reading »

I think I have found my perfect summer nail polish! Glazed chestnuts is a light sandy copper shade with lots of gold shimmer. When I put a light coat on, it pretty much blends in with the tan on the rest of my hands except for that gorgeous golden shimmer. It is such a perfect summer beachy shade that will look great with a tan on anyone’s hands or feet. Continue reading »

Nail Colors are formulated to be applied to finger & toes nails with an airbrush. For this reason, many nail technicians assume that any “airbrush paint” can be used, expecting the same performance and vibrancy – then wonder why they do not achieve the desired results. Let me give you an analogy. There are many bleaches formulated to be used in your laundry, correct? But if you wanted to bleach your hair, you would never use a laundry bleach! That would be absurd, wouldn’t it?!

Many nail technicians use textile or ceramic hobby paints as color on the finger and toe nails. Many of those technicians are not even aware of this fact. Hobby & craft companies now sell in the nail industry, hoping to profit from the new “airbrushing market”, yet not completely understanding the salon environment and the customers’ needs. After all, this color is being applied to the human body in a salon, not on a canvas or t-shirt, so it must be chemically different.

Any color that a nail technician applies to your nails should wash off easily with just water. If the technician is using an alcohol or ammonia based product to clean overspray from your skin, it may be causing damage and/or dehydration. Continue reading »

How do I know if I am wearing MMA Acrylic Nails?
How can I avoid MMA?
Are there alternatives to wearing Acrylics?

Definition of MMA

MMA stands for Methyl Methacrylate; a colorless liquid with a sharp, fruity odor. It is typically used to make resins, plastics, and specifically plastic dentures. In the nail industry this dangerous chemical can be found in acrylic liquids/monomers. When MMA acrylic liquid is used the nails are typically referred to as “dental acrylics” or “porcelain nails”. The FDA has prohibited this checmical from being used on fingernails, however some states still have not “banned” this chemical from use in nail salons. Continue reading »

I feel whenever I tell you about something I must write a disclaimer stating why I am so different than anyone who reads this. I am not trying to dissuade you from purchasing it, I think I am merely trying to alleviate any guilt I would have if you spend money and HATE it. That said – My hands and nails are ugly. TRULY- they are a female version of my Dad’s – which are ugly. They don’t match- my two hands are completely different. And my nails WON’T grow and are flat so getting fake nails are a pain. They pop off really easily. Okay, sometimes they do grow and then they bend so if I have fake nails water gets underneath and yes, they pop off. Once when I was a teenager I worked really hard and grew my nails out and my mother looked at them and said, wow, I have never seen your nails long and she reached over and bent one to make sure it was real and it broke. They break, flake, bend, crease and generally disintegrate when any length beyond bitten so…all that said I am constantly trying to find some miracle to make them perfect. (It doesn’t help that two of my sisters have gorgeous hands, you know those that look good even when the nails are short.)

Artificial Nails are wonderful but are not for everyone.  Due to lifestyles and occupations many people are better off trying to grow their natural nails.  If you are looking into having artificial nails applied or are currently wearing them….here are some tips and precautions, in general, and some occupational hazards in particular.

Read all of the information below or click on the underlined subject of interest and it will take you to the place in the text that applies to the subject you choose.  This information comes from real clients in real world salon and life situations.  If you fall into one of these categories and the information does not apply to you…You are one of the lucky few.

Nurses and Health Care Professionals – This occupation requires a lot of hand and finger use.  Administering shots, rolling a patient on their side or changing bed linens, not to mention wearing gloves that cause your hands to sweat.  The risk of jamming your nail is high so nails should be kept short.  Also some hospitals will not allow you to wear polish (I have no idea why, and neither do the hospitals), so you will want a natural look.  Wearing gloves is another problem.  Make sure you are going to a nail technician that applies nails that do not lift (in a 2-3 week period).   Also applying a good quality top coat every other day or so will help your nails stay sealed against moisture and lifting.  Over the years some of my best clients were nurses and one or two doctors.
