nail stencil technique

An attractive alternative to nail extensions with bonded tips is the stencil technique. Used it is especially so if, for various reasons no hints are welcome if the nail needs to be fixed if there is no matching for the natural nail tips (oversize, undersize, very flat nails), allergies to the Tip Glue, with deformed nails and nail-biters.

Preparation

Unlike the gel technique with tips on where the natural nail should be no more than two millimeters beyond the tip of the finger, the natural nail sticking here at least two millimeters beyond it, otherwise is not a nail design with template technique possible. The natural nail is just as prepared as the nails with tips – that is, hands should be washed thoroughly, the cuticles gently pushed back, the nail buffer using a fine file or slightly matted, thus created the nail dust thoroughly removed. Gel nail

The gel modelling with nail tips is ideal to reinforce our own natural nails, not only, but also to extend. There are countless variations on nail tips, from the subtle French manicure up to various forms such as the failed V-shape. Once we have decided on some nail tips, now the question is, how it applies the best. The easiest way is, of course, to leave the work of a professional nail stylist – but in the long run, this solution is unfortunately quite expensive. Because it is worth investing in a gel system to do it. And away you go!

Washing, filing, Cleaner

First, you should wash your hands thoroughly and gently push back the cuticles. Now the natural nails are trimmed with a file so that no more than two millimeters survive. Unlike the acrylic modeling, the surface of the natural nail in the gel modellage not be roughed up – the shine but you should still remove the coarse side of a polishing buffer until the natural nail is frosted. Here the resulting filings now remove thoroughly. Now the natural nails are decreased yet – best with a cleaner that is applied to a pulp pad. This preparation of the artificial nail a long life is possible.

Adjust nail tips

Now the desired Nageltip is placed on the nail and ensure that it fits perfectly. The right size can be recognized that the tip with the walls of the natural nail and completes the imaginary natural extension forms. When the tip passes, he is stuck with a drop Tipglue to the natural nail. It should be ensured that the tip snaps into place – otherwise there is a risk of air bubbles between the natural nail and tip. A dip the cutter tips are now being brought to the desired length if necessary and filed into shape. The approach of the tips at the transition to the natural nail filed flat until it is almost invisible. It is important to cut only the tip, but not the natural nail. With a professional Tip Blender, this is quite simple. As before, the natural nail and the tip is now brushed gently with a buffer, the dust removed. Also Entfettungsprozedur must be repeated, so that the following gel modellage is optimally preserved.

Perfect nails extended

In the following primer is applied to the natural nail, but not the tip. After this follows the first layer gel, depending on the desired gel system. This is as nail polish applied with a small brush on the nail. After each layer, the hand is to cure for at least two minutes under a UV lamp, hereafter is again cleaned with cleaner, before the next layer below. So the nail is built layer by layer. Apply thin layer of gel to cure the last to leave and go.

Those who wish to save the tedious final in-shape-files used as the final layer, a sealing gel. This runs through the so-called effect of honey itself is smooth and glossy after curing. Only the side walls of the nail must be checked again and to be sharpened when necessary. Those who wish can decorate your nails with nail art finally.

The feet are very often a neglected part of our bodies, but think about the work that they do, they carry our weight all day. We need to take good care of them, they need to be kept in good condition.

They are covered up all winter and when it comes to summer, we realize the terrible condition that they are in.

Very few people have ever actually had a pedicure or even given themselves one, but below is a step by step guide to getting beautiful looking healthy feet at home.

You will need:

A large bowl

A foot file

A nail file

Moisturiser

Cuticle cream or olive oil

Q tips or cotton buds

Nail polish remover

Cotton wool or an old towel

Nail scissors

Exfoliator

Nail brush

Base coat

Nail polish

Toe separators

Step 1:

Moisten a cotton wool ball or an old towel with acetone free nail polish remover, and stroke it over the toe nails to remove any traces of old nail polish.

Step 2:

Cut your nails with the nail scissors, cut straight across and do not cut downwards, this can lead to ingrowing toenails.

File them straight across with the nails file, you can use a metal file on your toe nails as they are much thicker and stronger than your finger nails. Also, since they are so thick, most standard emery boards would not be able to cope with the task.

Step 3:

Soak your feet in a large bowl of warm water, you can add oils to it such as peppermint or olive oil to help revive and soften the feet. Exfoliate your feet using small gentle circular movements, scrub the toes and nails with the nail brush, rinse.

Step 4: Remove your feet from the water and apply a liberal amount of moisturiser wrap them in the towel and leave for about 10 minutes.

Step 5: File away any rough skin from the feet using the foot file, pay particular attention to the heels.

Apply another coat of moisturiser.

Step 6: Apply warm olive oil or cuticle cream to the cuticles and massage in, gently push the cuticles back with a cotton bud/q tip.

Step 7: Put your toe separators/dividers in; apply your base coat (if using polish)

Allow it to dry and add a coat of colour.

UV-Gel-Nails

The nails help protect the end of fingers and toes from trauma as well as to help pick up small objects. Over the last century, nails have become more focused on cosmetic reasons and less focused on protection. Manicuring is the care of hands and nails. Basic manicuring should be done at least once a week.

These are the steps to take for a simple do-it-yourself (regular) home manicure:
1. Remove the old nail polish
2. Shape the nails:
»~tilt the emery board so that the filing is confined mainly to the underside of the free edge Continue reading »

When you’re doing a manicure, don’t cut your cuticles (they grow back thicker), instead gently push them back when they are softened. Also, don’t use a razor to shave your heels when you get a pedicure (same problem..grows thicker), instead soak well and use a pumice.

Moving the nail file back and forth will make your nails split. It’s better to just hold the nail file at an angle and then file in one direction, starting from the left corner going to the center, and then the right corner going to the center. Using short strokes also prevents you from filing away too much.

A manicure is a beauty treatment which involves soaking the hands in softening substances and massaging the hands while filing, shaping and polishing the nails.

DO

1. Protect your nails from getting polish stains by applying a thin layer of clear base coat. This will also help your polish last longer and help you avoid a streaky finish.

2. Gently roll the nail polish in your palms to distribute color before slicking on a coat.

3. A pedicure is similar to a manicure but works to improve the appearance of the feet.

4. “There are some germs that hide in the nail plate which simple washing many times may not get rid of, especially with long nails.

DON’T:

1. Never soak dehydrated natural nails in water or have a water-based manicure! Instead, ask for a hot oil based manicure.
2. Never cut your cuticles, or allow someone to. It is okay to remove a dead tag of skin, but cutting live tissue is simply not recommended.
3. Don’t overbuff the natural nail! Buffing of the nails can be done about once a month, provided that a very fine buffer is used.
4. Never, ever rip or pull nail enhancements off, as this will be very damaging to the natural nail. If you no longer wish to have them, ask your nail professional to remove them the correct way.

Never use your nails as tools.

Never “pick” your cuticles. This can lead to infection, then damage or even loss of the nail.

Keep cuticles soft and supple. The skin splitting around the cuticle area and the side wall is a sign of dryness, prevent dryness with cuticle oil.

Keep your cuticles pushed back. For the same reasons as in 3. The tighter the skin around the nail is, the more chance it will dry and split.

Make sure you clean out from under your nails everyday. Debris and bacteria harbor themselves in this area and can cause infections.

Keep your cuticles pushed back. Continue reading »

I feel whenever I tell you about something I must write a disclaimer stating why I am so different than anyone who reads this. I am not trying to dissuade you from purchasing it, I think I am merely trying to alleviate any guilt I would have if you spend money and HATE it. That said – My hands and nails are ugly. TRULY- they are a female version of my Dad’s – which are ugly. They don’t match- my two hands are completely different. And my nails WON’T grow and are flat so getting fake nails are a pain. They pop off really easily. Okay, sometimes they do grow and then they bend so if I have fake nails water gets underneath and yes, they pop off. Once when I was a teenager I worked really hard and grew my nails out and my mother looked at them and said, wow, I have never seen your nails long and she reached over and bent one to make sure it was real and it broke. They break, flake, bend, crease and generally disintegrate when any length beyond bitten so…all that said I am constantly trying to find some miracle to make them perfect. (It doesn’t help that two of my sisters have gorgeous hands, you know those that look good even when the nails are short.)

  • Carefully file the edges of nails using a 240 grit file or higher.Using a higher grit will smooth the edges of the nails without shredding them. It is also true that if you file your nails more square, opposed to oval or pointed, then the nails are less likely to break.
  • Gently push your cuticles back on a regular basis. The cuticle is a delicate and important structure surrounding the nail. It is important that you keep it in good health. If your cuticles are allowed to become too dry and overgrown this will result in hangnails. Be sure to only push back your cuticles after they have been softened (particularly after showering or washing hands). Once a week, using a metal or wooden cuticle pusher, gently push back your cuticles. This will help to remove dead skin, prevent hangnails, and make your cuticles smooth and healthy looking. Your Nail Plate is actually the flat, curved, translucent, hard substance that we know of as the nail. It’s bottom and side edges are surrounded by the Nail Fold, a wedge-shaped fold of skin. The portion of the nail fold that covers the bottom portion of the nail plate is the Cuticle.

The nail plate originates from the Matrix, also known as the mother of the nail. The matrix can be damaged by pushing back the cuticle too aggressively. The area beneath the nail plate is the Nail Bed.   The nail plate adheres to the nail bed through a series of grooves. A damaged nail bed can hinder nail growth.

The half-moon-shaped, light coloring on the bottom of the nail plate is the Lunula. It is caused by the reflection of light where the matrix and the nail bed’s connective tissue meet. Continue reading »

Soften, smooth and soothe hands by indulging in luxurious spa manicure.
“A spa manicure is a treatment beyond a regular manicure,” explains Jan Arnold, president of Creative Nail Design. “The service offers deep exfoliation and a facial-quality moisturizing of the hands.”
Arnold says during a traditional service, the focus is on cleaning the nails-tidying the cuticles, then filing and polishing the nails. With a spa manicure, nails are filed, buffed, then soaked in an aromatic cleansing solution. Next, hands are thoroughly exfoliated from the wrist down, followed by a gentle massage up to the elbows. The cuticles are tidied, then your nails are ready for polishing. Continue reading »

Like your hair, nails are comprised of dead cells that make up a protein called keratin. The hardness of the nail comes from the presence of sulfur in the amino acids binding the keratin of the nails together. Between the layers of keratin are fat and water molecules that make nails shiny and pliable.

Glossary of Nail Terms
The nail bed is the pink part of your nail containing the capillaries that bring nourishment to the matrix, which is the area just beneath the cuticle. The matrix is where new cells are generated, making nails grow. The actual nail is called the nail plate, and the crescent moon at its base is called the lunula. The cuticle is the ribbon of skin at the base of the nail covering the matrix. This flexible strip seals off the finger to the nail, keeping out substances, like bacteria, that can damage the matrix. Here are some tips to toughen or protect weak fingernails:

* Apply a nail hardener, but avoid products containing toluene sulfonamide, or formaldehyde. This chemical causes itchiness, redness and irritation of the skin. It also dries out the enhancements and causes broken seals and cracks.

* Don’t use regular polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the polish. Acetone dries up the nails.

1. How do I avoid getting polish on my cuticles?
Instead of painting right from the cuticle, place the brush on the nail bed about 1/8″ away from the cuticle and push backwards toward it, stopping just before the skin.
2. That’s too much work…how do remove polish from my cuticles?
Plan ahead. Paint your nails about an hour before bedtime, leaving the messy polish on. When taking a shower the next morning, the polish will soften and peel off. Any stubborn polish still left on the skin can easily be removed by rubbing it with a soft towel. Polish not dry yet? In a rush? Use a cotton swab and nail polish remover to do a quick removal.
